AFC Ajax N.V.

AFC Ajax N.V. is the corporate entity behind the football club generally known simply as Ajax. Since May 17, 1998, the club has been registered as a naamloze vennootschap, a public limited company, listed on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange. As a company it seeks to make a profit through ticket sales and through income earned by competing in national, continental and global football, with about half of its revenue coming from merchandise, advertising and broadcasting rights. Ajax is the only Dutch football club with an initial public offering. Only a limited portion of its shares are publicly traded: the Vereniging AFC Ajax retains 73 percent of the shares, with the insurance company Delta Lloyd Group holding 9.95 percent and former stockbroker Adri Strating holding 8.65 percent.
