Artisan Entertainment was an American film studio and home video company founded in 1983 and based in Santa Monica, California, with an additional office in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. Operating as a mini-major studio, it built a library of thousands of films through acquisition, original production and production-distribution agreements before merging with the mini-major studio Lions Gate Entertainment on December 15, 2003, after which it ceased independent operations.
