Boom! Studios, stylized as BOOM! Studios, is an American comic book and graphic novel publisher headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Ross Richie and Andrew Cosby founded it in 2005 after working in Hollywood to develop comic projects as films, and its first publication, the horror anthology Zombie Tales number 1, appeared on June 29, 2005. Early output centred on original series by industry veterans such as Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis, and from 2006 the company moved into licensed titles, later adding the children imprint now called KaBOOM!, and acquiring Archaia Studios Press in 2013. Twentieth Century Fox bought a minority stake in 2017, which passed to Disney in 2019, and the company signed a first-look deal with Netflix in 2020. In September 2024 Penguin Random House completed its acquisition of Boom! Studios from Disney, making it a subsidiary division of Random House. Its main imprints are Boom!, KaBOOM!, Archaia and Boom! Box.
