Public News Service, usually shortened to PNS, was launched in 1996 by journalist Lark Corbeil in Idaho. It has grown to 40 state-based news services that provide multi-platform content free of charge to news outlets as a way of advocating journalism in the public interest, with Josh Wise serving as its current publisher.
