Agencia Brasil is a nationwide public news agency run by the Brazilian government, established May 10, 1990 and headquartered in Brasilia with regional offices in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Luis, Sao Paulo and Tabatinga. It feeds thousands of regional newspapers and websites across Brazil as well as major national outlets, reaching more than 9 million people each month, and publishes its content under Creative Commons licensing. It is part of Empresa Brasil de Comunicacao, a public media corporation formed in 2007 to consolidate government broadcasting entities.
