RIA Novosti, also known as RIAN, was a Russian state-owned domestic news agency. On December 9, 2013, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it was liquidated and its assets and workforce transferred to the newly created Rossiya Segodnya agency, with RIA Novosti registered as part of that new agency on April 8, 2014.
