Lusa News Agency is the largest news agency in Portugal and in the Portuguese language, a public company based in Lisbon established on November 28, 1986, after the dissolution of the earlier state agency ANOP and the absorption of the private agency NP, Noticias de Portugal. It distributes news to newspapers, radio and television stations throughout Portugal and the Portuguese speaking world, maintains more than 280 journalists worldwide with offices or correspondents across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, and describes its guiding principles as rigor, impartiality, plurality of information, speed, quality and teamwork.
