LETA is the primary news agency of Latvia, headquartered in Riga, founded in 1919 as Latopress shortly after Latvia's independence and renamed LTA the following year when the wire service was subordinated to the Latvian Telegraph Agency. The organization currently operates under Estonian ownership through the Postimees Group and provides journalistic coverage and wire services to media outlets and other subscribers throughout Latvia.
