Shafaqna, also known as the International Shia News Association, is a news agency covering news relating to Shia Islam that began operations on February 24, 2012. It produces material in Arabic from Najaf, Iraq, in Persian from Tehran, Iran, and in Turkish from Istanbul, Turkey, with additional pages in Pakistan, India, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan. The agency is closely connected to Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani and the Najaf seminary, and describes itself as an independent medium.
