China News Service is the second-largest state news agency in the People's Republic of China after Xinhua News Agency, founded on October 1, 1952 and maintaining offices in every mainland province as well as Hong Kong and Macau. Its reporting has traditionally targeted overseas Chinese communities and residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and it is overseen by the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee.
