Cinecom Pictures, formally Cinecom International Films, was an independent film production and distribution company founded in 1982 by Ira Deutchman, Amir Malin, and John Ives and headquartered in New York City. The company specialized in acquiring and releasing independent and art-house films through the 1980s, including The Brother from Another Planet and Salaam Bombay!, and its biggest commercial success was A Room with a View in 1986. Cinecom filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations in 1991; the French bank Credit Lyonnais bought its film library, which later passed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer through subsequent corporate transactions.
