Asylum Records is an American record label, founded in 1971 by David Geffen and his partner Elliot Roberts. Warner Communications, which is now the Warner Music Group, took it over in 1972, and the label later merged with Elektra Records to become Elektra/Asylum Records. After those earlier incarnations it is geared primarily towards hip-hop, along with rock and alternative metal, and it is owned and distributed by the Warner Music Group.
