Pannonia Film Studio was the largest animation studio in Hungary, based in the capital, Budapest. Established in 1951 and made independent in 1957, the studio gained international recognition when its three-minute animated short The Fly, directed by Ferenc Rofusz, won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1981. The animation studio closed around 2015, and the facility was later repurposed as a post-production hub.
