Zynga Inc. is an American video game developer and publisher known for its social and mobile games, founded in April 2007 under the name Presidio Media before being renamed Zynga later that year, with headquarters in San Mateo, California. The company launched FarmVille on Facebook in June 2009, reaching ten million daily active users within six weeks, and built a large audience around titles including Zynga Poker, Words with Friends 2 and CSR Racing 2. Zynga began trading on NASDAQ in December 2011 and was acquired by Take-Two Interactive in a deal announced in January 2022 and completed that May, for 12.7 billion dollars.
