Niantic, Inc. was an American software development and video game company based in San Francisco, known for augmented reality mobile games including Ingress and Pokemon Go. It began in 2010 as Niantic Labs, an internal startup within Google, and became an independent company in October 2015 when Google restructured under Alphabet Inc. In 2025 Niantic was acquired by Scopely, with its game development team continuing to operate as Scopely Explore and its non-game business spun off separately as Niantic Spatial.
