Wafa is the official state-run news agency of the Palestinian National Authority, established in April 1972 and beginning operations from Beirut on June 5 of that year as the news agency of the Palestine Liberation Organization before the Authority's 1994 formation. Headquartered in Ramallah in the West Bank with roughly 260 staff, it distributes news, photographs and video in Arabic, English, French and Hebrew and operates under the appointment authority of the Palestinian president.
