David Teece

David John Teece (born 1948) is a New Zealand born economist based in the United States, known for developing the dynamic capabilities framework and the profiting from innovation model in the study of business strategy. He holds a faculty position at the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also directs the Tusher Center for the Management of Intellectual Capital, and he is the cofounder and executive chairman emeritus of the consulting firm Berkeley Research Group. His work focuses on corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, competition policy and intellectual property, and in 2021 he was named a Clarivate Laureate in economics for his contributions to the study of innovation and competition.
