Alexander Osterwalder (born 1974) is a Swiss business theorist, author, speaker, consultant and entrepreneur known for his work on business modeling and for developing the Business Model Canvas. Born in St. Gallen, he earned a master's degree in political science from the University of Lausanne in 2000 and a PhD in management information systems in 2004. In 2010 he co-founded the consultancy Strategyzer, which has used his Business Model Canvas with millions of people worldwide.
